‘Hit me hard’: Manager admits news coming out of Tottenham Hotspur today has really upset him
MANAGER ADMITS NEWS COMING OUT OF SPURS TODAY HAS UPSET HIM
Zlatko Dalic, the coach of Croatia, acknowledged that hearing about the injury to Tottenham Hotspur winger Ivan Perisic had a profound impact on him.
Zlatko Dalic, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, is unhappy after Ivan Perisic suffers a serious injury during training.
Given that Tottenham won’t be playing in Europe this season, you may anticipate a rather peaceful week for them.
Ivan Perisic is injured, but Daniel Levy has gone and hinted at perhaps bringing Ha
rry Kane back to the team.
Tottenham Hotspur confirm Ivan Perisic injury blow
Tottenham announced earlier this afternoon that Perisic suffered a ‘complex Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury’ in his right knee.
Spurs added that the injury was sustained in non-contact training and he will now immediately undergo surgery.
Tottenham didn’t say that Perisic suffered a torn ACL, but the expectation is that he will now be out for a number of months.
The 2022 signing from Inter Milan has been on the bench for all of Tottenham’s games this season but has made a real impact from the bench.
The 34-year-old came off the bench to set up Richarlison’s equaliser against Sheffield United and has looked lively as a winger rather than a wing back last season.
Perisic may sadly have played his final game for Tottenham though with his contract coming to an end next summer.
Croatia boss reacts to Perisic move
Perisic may also miss out on Euro 2024 if his injury is as bad as feared.
Perisic has been a vital player for Croatia for many years now and this probably would have been his final major tournament in a Croatia shirt.
The news has left Croatia boss Zlatko Dalic very upset as he copes with potentially losing a key player for Euro 2024.
Dalic has told SportKlub in Croatia that the news has hit him hard having worked with Perisic for so long in the Croatia setup.
Dalic adds that he has spoken to Perisic and the Tottenham man is really determined to get himself fit for Euro 2024, giving the Croatia boss real hope of a return.
“Ivan has been one of the best players of our national team for ten years and one of the leaders and key players of the national team during my mandate, so this news hit me hard and made me sad,” said Dalic. “Surely his absence will be a big handicap for us in the continuation of the qualification, we saw in these two games in September how good he is and how important he is for us.”
“I deeply believe that Ivan will be with us at the Euros next summer, which we have to win because of him as well. I spoke with him and felt his optimism and strong will to be ready for the Euros, and knowing his dedication and physical capacities, I am convinced that he will make a superb recovery and reach the desired form by June.”
“I cannot and do not want to imagine our national team without Ivan, we are all with him and we are very much looking forward to seeing him again in a representative environment. I wish him a successful operation, then a quality recovery and a return to the field so he can do what he knows best – lead Croatia to great victories,” he added.
