West Ham set to announce shock deadline day signing of little known star  but there’s a big twist claim reports in Austria

West Ham set to announce shock deadline day signing of little known star Andy Irving but there’s a big twist claim reports in Austria.

On deadline day, there are usually one or two unexpected transactions, and it appears that West Ham is about to complete one.

Because the Hammers are reportedly bringing in an uncapped Scottish player from the Austrian Bundesliga today, entirely out of the blue.

West Ham is prepared to reveal the shocking deadline-day acquisition of obscure player Andy Irving, but there’s a major twist, according to rumours in Austria.

West Ham set to announce shock deadline day signing of little known star Andy Irving but there’s a big twist claim reports in Austria

West Ham are reportedly signing 23-year-old all-action former Hearts midfielder Irving from SK Austria Klagenfurt, according to the Austrian website Kronen Zeitung.

The catch is that the Hammers will immediately return him to the team for the remainder of the campaign.

It’s unknown if David Moyes, a fellow Scot, is familiar with Irving as a player. Tim Steidten, the technical director of West Ham, has a reputation for scouting players in the Swiss and Austrian leagues.

Given that Irving is already 23 years old and that West Ham is returning him on loan, it is unclear whether they view him as a player with real promise for the future.

‘Win-win’ says Austrian press

The current Premier League runners-up West Ham have already made a bid for Andy, according to “Krone” intelligence, and the transfer should officially take place on “Deadline Day” – and will certainly be significant to bring in a windfall.

The nicest part of the agreement, though, is that Andy can temporarily reside in Klagenfurt.

Because the team led by head coach David Moyes, which is valued at €443 million (£379 million), will instantly loan Irving back.Win-win, then.

It’s fair to say West Ham will win the award for the most random deal of deadline day.

But this is what clubs like Brighton have been doing for years.

So it is great to see West Ham looking for diamonds they can polish as well as getting in proven quality.
