Two Tottenham transfers crumble , and a new signing is thwarted by Postecoglou’s refusal.

Despite Giovani Lo Celso’s wish to depart, Ange Postecoglou is extremely unlikely to approve the transfer, and the change of heart might lead to a prospective Spurs arrival being scrapped, according to reports.

Lo Celso, 27, has been on loan to Villarreal for the past 18 months. The Argentine made an impression while playing in Spain, and upon his return, he harbored ambitions to force his way into Tottenham’s first-team plans.

Indeed, Postecoglou is said to have promised the eminent midfielder a key position in north London this season, according to Estadio Deportivo, which gave the player renewed confidence.

However, the campaign’s initial phases haven’t gone as Lo Celso had intended. Lo Celso has only been given one appearance so far, lasting a pitiful 16 minutes.

As a result, rumors that he would be moving again and possibly returning to Spain circulated.

Barcelona is very interested in the man they thought would make a good replacement for Bernardo Silva. The Man City star was courted by Xavi’s team for the whole of the summer, but their efforts were in vain as Silva last week agreed to a new contract with City.

Recently, Sport Witness reported from Spain that the re-signing of Clement Lenglet by Spurs was related to Lo Celso’s possible transfer to Barcelona.

The center-half, who spent the previous season on loan at Tottenham, is available for either a loan or an outright purchase for a discount price.

Fabrizio Romano thinks that Lo Celso’s prospects of leaving Tottenham in the final hours of the summer transfer window are essentially zero.

Postecoglou believes in Lo Celso

Despite the limited playing time Postecoglou has so far given Lo Celso, the reliable transfer guru said that Postecoglou is “happy” with the player.

Lo Celso is currently “likely to continue” at Spurs past the deadline of September 1. Romano came to the conclusion that only a “important bid” could reverse this.

It’s unclear how Lo Celso will react to such news. But a recent update from Mundo Deportivo (quoted by Sport Witness) confirms that Lo Celso “wants to leave” in order to get consistent playing time.

The Argentine’s dream appears to be being unfulfilled, and as a stay in north London is likely, another move for Lenglet might possibly fall through.

Aston Villa has since seen Lenglet, according to a later update from Romano.
