32-year-old Barcelona player takes major dig at Tottenham on Instagram after spurs defeat yesterday
Marcos Alonso takes major dig at Tottenham on Instagram after beating them yesterday
After the final horn, Alonso, who previously played for Chelsea for six seasons, posted something on Instagram.
With their opening match of the regular season just a few days away, Tottenham’s preseason schedule has officially concluded.
Ange Postecoglou has had a busy summer because he has had to reorganize a large squad and address problems from the previous season.
Although Spurs still have a lot of guys they need to let go, their starting lineup against Brentford should be stronger.
However, Marcos Alonso couldn’t help but make a dig after Tottenham’s defeat to Barcelona yesterday.
His love for Chelsea clearly hasn’t dampened after leaving Stamford Bridge last summer.
Alonso only played the final thirty minutes of the game but was on the pitch for Barcelona’s comeback.
Alonso takes dig at Tottenham after Barcelona win
The Spanish international posted a picture of him in action last night on his Instagram.
Alongside a photo of him dribbling with the ball, he said: “Some things never change. Barcelona 4-2 Tottenham.”
Alonso is of course referring to Tottenham’s recent struggles to win a trophy.
However, he obviously wasn’t watching Richarlison happily celebrate with the Tiger Cup trophy after their 5-1 win over Lion City Sailors.
If Tottenham had won the game yesterday, the Joan Gamper Trophy would have had an equal place in their trophy cabinet.
Tottenham would be delighted with their performance against Barcelona, notwithstanding Alonso’s dig.
The game’s high point for Ange Postecoglou’s team was Oliver Skipp’s brace, which helped them maintain the lead for the majority of it.
Postecoglou might have had a tough choice to make over the weekend because of the youthful midfielder.
Postecoglou has a broad variety of alternative midfielders at his disposal who might occupy the two remaining slots in the center of the pitch since James Maddison is certain to start.
He’s also got to decide who will start at full-back on either side and if Micky Van de Ven is ready to play on Sunday.
The next few days will involve Postecoglou making plenty of tough calls.
