Jorge Mendes ‘on the ground’ negotiating striker transfer for Tottenham chief Daniel Levy

According to rumors in Portugal, super-agent Jorge Mendes is ‘on the ground’ discussing the probable transfer of Tottenham forward Mehdi Taremi from Porto. The news that the Iranian is the subject of shocking negotiations with Spurs suggests that Daniel Levy is looking at the possibility of bolstering Ange Postecoglou’s team’s assault as the uncertainty surrounding Harry Kane’s future threatens to drag on.

Even though their self-imposed deadline has passed, Bayern Munich is still in negotiations with the 30-year-old England captain and remains optimistic that a deal can be reached for the player.

However, there has since been a shocking turn of events after it was revealed Tottenham was considering a surprise move for Taremi, 31.

According to Record in Portugal, Mendes is working on brining the Iran international to north London for Levy and Co.

According to reports, Tottenham is willing to spend £21 million for Taremi and is hoping to beat out rivals like AC Milan for the midfielder.

However, Porto are unwilling to lose their best player so soon after the start of a new season and are seeking at least £26 million.

Other forwards, such as Gift Orban of Gent and Brennan Johnson of Nottingham Forest, are also being linked to Spurs.

As they try to finalize deals for Micky van de Ven and Alejo Veliz, Tottenham has been extremely busy in the market and may bring in eight new players before the start of the upcoming Premier League season.

Taremi is mindful that this could be his last chance to play in the Premier League as he approaches the latter stages of his career.

There has already been interest from England this summer from Sean Dyche’s Everton.

However, the offer was of little interest to Taremi, who recently told Varzesh3: “Now there is an opportunity, but even now, for example, Everton’s offer doesn’t interest me.”

He also claims he had the chance to join Newcastle back in 2021 but he instead opted to play Champions League football with Porto.

Taremi continued: “I have had an offer from Newcastle but I rejected their offer because we were in the Champions League and I could play against teams like Liverpool, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid.
