Tottenham plan Alejo Veliz medical as Edmond Tapsoba interest cools
Alejo Veliz, a highly regarded attacker from Rosario Central, is on the verge of joining Tottenham in a £12.9 million (€15 million) plus add-ons deal.
Although they are prepared to lose the 19-year-old, Rosario would prefer for him to stay there on loan while discussions about when he would join Spurs are still ongoing. The Argentine Primera Division’s second season begins in late August and lasts through mid-November.
Similar to Pape Matar Sarr, who joined Spurs from Metz in the summer of 2021 but spent a season on loan at the French club, Veliz is seen by the club as a player for the future rather than a potential first-teamer right away. Veliz was a standout for Argentina at the U-20 World Cup earlier this year.
While pursuing other center-half prospects, namely Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven, Spurs have reduced their interest in Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen.
