Tottenham hijacked a €40 million agreement for Liverpool’s target, Palace, and Levy is about to ‘finish’ a separate transfer
Tottenham are reportedly increasing their interest in Torino defender Perr Schuurs, who has previously been linked with Liverpool and Crystal Palace.
Tottenham have been busy in the transfer market and have made some solid signings while the Harry Kane drama has been rumbling on in the background.
Around £120 million has been spent on permanent deals for James Maddison, Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, Guglielmo Vicario, and Manor Solomon, and they are far from finished.
Because Clement Lenglet’s loan has ended and Davinson Sanchez has been linked with a transfer away, Ange Postecoglou is looking to sign one or two new centre-backs.
Schuurs impressed for Torino in Serie A last season after joining from Dutch powerhouse Ajax in 2022.
Liverpool are mostly interested in recruiting new midfielders this summer, but they are also looking for a young center-back to compete with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate.
The Premier League giants have been strongly connected with Schuurs this summer, although it was reported last month that Crystal Palace have struck a ‘deal’ to buy the €40 million-rated defender amid speculations tying Marc Guehi to a transfer elsewhere.
However, speculation over a move to Palace has died down in recent weeks, and DAZN reporter Orazio Accomando now claims that Tottenham have ‘came forward again’ for Schuurs.
Spurs are ‘ready to raise their offer’ to Torino and the player in order to finalize a deal. The defender “has not requested a transfer,” but is “waiting for new developments.”
Tottenham are also showing interest in Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven and Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now provided a fresh update on Tottenham’s transfer business, with them ‘ready to complete a deal for Blackburn Rovers’ Ashley Phillips by the end of the week if all goes to plan’ and he will cost £2m. His report adds.
‘Tottenham’s latest proposal was sent to Wolfsburg on Wednesday for defender Mickey van de Ven – €40m fixed, plus €5m in add-ons. Daniel Levy is taking care of the final steps of the negotiations for the player. Deal at the final stages, just payment terms and instalments left to be complete as German club want easier to reach add-ons or else fee will be €50m.
‘Tottenham are still working on a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba.
‘Alejo Véliz has agreed personal terms with Tottenham with a long-term contract in place. The 19-year-old will join from Rosario Central as part of €15m deal plus add-ons.
‘Galatasaray are now considering Tanguy Ndombele as an option for their midfield. Discussions have taken place over the conditions of the deal.’
