‘While I’m speaking’: Fabrizio Romano has late night update on ‘exceptional player’ move to Tottenham

Fabrizio Romano shares late night update on Micky van de Ven’s move to Tottenham

On Wednesday night, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s acquisition of Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.

In his most recent YouTube video, the transfer expert claimed Tottenham were’really close’ to signing Van de Ven.

After weeks of disappointment, Spurs’ quest for a new center-back appears to be coming to a close.

Along with fellow Bundesliga center-back Edmond Tapsoba, the Dutchman has been widely linked with a move to Tottenham.

After speaking with Ange Postecoglou, De Telegraaf claimed in July that Van de Ven had reached an agreement with Spurs.

Weeks have passed since the transaction began, but Postecoglou now appears to be getting closer to getting his man.

Romano also asserts that talks between Wolfsburg and Spurs are still going on even though the agreement isn’t finalized just yet.

Romano shares update on Van de Ven to Tottenham

Speaking in his latest YouTube video, Romano claimed Tottenham and Wolfsburg still have to iron out the final details of the deal for Van de Ven.

“Tottenham are close to completing a deal with Wolfsburg for Micky van de Ven,” he said. “The agreement is really close, it’s not done yet.

“They are still discussing some details but the agreement is really close, I’m still checking on the fee and the details, especially on the payment terms and structure.

“But the agreement is really close, everything’s ok with the player so Tottenham are getting closer to Micky van de Ven – waiting for the final details of this story. They are negotiating while I am speaking.”

Undoubtedly, the news that the team is finally close to signing Van de Ven would bring relief to Tottenham fans.

It is no secret that Spurs’ defense needs extensive surgery after allowing 63 goals in the Premier League the previous season.

Van de Ven, a young center-back with talent, will give Postecoglou a player who fits his system nicely.

The 23-year-old has outstanding ball skills and the necessary speed to play in a high defensive line.

Spurs will be desperate to get this deal over the line quickly too, with the Premier League campaign set to get underway next weekend.
