Jurgen klopp blast four Liverpool star for Bayern Munich defeat
Klopp criticized four Liverpool stars after Bayern Munich pre-season defeat
Jurgen Klopp was not happy with his Liverpool defence following their 4-3 pre-season defeat to Bayern Munich with Trent Alexander-Arnild and Joel Matip among those coming under fire.
Across their four off-season outings, Jurgen Klopp’s side have conceded a staggering 10 goals. Hardly ideal preparation for the new Premier League campaign, with that trip to Stamford Bridge now less than a fortnight ago.
Like against Hannover and Karlsruhe, Liverpool were opened up with baffling ease by a Bayern side who found themselves 2-0 and 3-2 down but still ended up victorious in Singapore
“I saw a lot of good things, but of course some things I didn’t like,” Klopp said post-game. “And now we have to analyse. That’s always the same in pre-season.
“The goals we conceded were mainly lack of concentration in the moment, twice. Very similar situation in the first goal we conceded, and I think the fourth, very similar.
“We have to analyse it properly and we have a lot of time to do that on the flight home.”
Liverpool lose to Bayern Munich in Singapore
After Cody Gakpo’s ruthless early strike and Virgil van Dijk’s thumping header, Bayern halved Liverpool’s lead in the first half as Serge Gnabry took advantage of some more-than lackadaisical defending from Alexander-Arnold and Matip.
Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez didn’t exactly fair much better in the second ‘45 either; a stoppage time stunner from 20-year-old Frans Kratzig ensuring a victory for Thomas Tuchel over the man he replaced at both Mainz and Borussia Dortmund.
“The first goal we concede, Trent and Joel have to react better,” Klopp sighs.
“I think it was a similar second half, now between Joey and Ibou. It’s nothing about speed or whatever. It’s just about awareness.
Liverpool will face Darmstadt next before travelling to West London on August 13th.
