Tottenham are in a very extensive talks with Atletico Madrid over Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg sale
According to sources that spoke with 90min, Tottenham Hotspur is attempting to complete the transfer of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to Atletico Madrid.
The international player from Denmark is entering his fourth season at Spurs, but he might yet switch teams before the summer transfer window closes.
Tottenham would explore offers for Hojbjerg, and Atletico Madrid is in negotiations over a trade, according to the 90min story from back in June.
The Los Rojiblancos are seeking to bolster their midfield with another aggressive player. Hojbjerg and Sofyan Amrabat of Fiorentina have been mentioned as candidates, though 90min knows that Manchester United is heavily interested in the latter and will step up their efforts to recruit him after they have paid off their salary bill.
Hojbjerg is consequently anticipated to become Atletico Madrid’s top target, albeit they are hesitant to spend more than £30 million on him.
The midfielder, who turns 28 later this week, was valued at £40 million when Spurs opened the summer transfer market. However, if there aren’t many other potential buyers, they might drop their asking price while still maintaining their position that they won’t obstruct an exit.
Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, responded to a question about the team’s interest in Hojbjerg by saying: “There are names the club is working on to solve the condition of urgency and obligation. We’ll determine as a team whether we need a new midfielder.
Hojbjerg has played in the team’s second unit during Tottenham’s two preseason games so far under new head coach Ange Postecoglou, with Yves Bissouma favoured as a holding midfielder and Oliver Skipp, James Maddison, and Pape Sarr starting ahead of him in a more forward role.
Hojbjerg joined Tottenham from Southampton during the summer of 2020 for an initial £15m fee. He has played 145 games in his three seasons at the club. VIEW MORE:

Tosin Adarabioyo is desired by Tottenham Hotspur, according to a report from football.london. They have been keeping an eye on the 25-year-old defender and are finally anticipated to make a play for him this week.
Spurs’ top aim entering the transfer window was to add a new defender after their defensive struggles in the previous campaign. They sought to give their new manager Ange Postecoglou more choices to work within the defense’s center as a result. However, Tottenham has not yet been successful in acquiring a center-back.
