‘Official soon’: Romano claims free agent set for emotional transfer after Tottenham release
Lucas Moura is set to rejoin Sao Paulo on a free transfer after leaving Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
Lucas Moura was released by Tottenham Hotspur this summer, and he is about to reteam with Sao Paulo.
Fabrizio Romano, who asserts that Lucas has signed the contracts to join Sao Paulo, says as much.
According to reports, Lucas will make a brief comeback by returning to Sao Paulo on a contract that runs until December of this year.
Romano asserts that the agreement will become official’soon,’ as Sao Paulo attempt to bring in another star player.
James Rodriguez, a playmaker, was just acquired by Sao Paulo. He is a Colombian.
In an emotional move for the winger, Lucas is now prepared to travel to Brazil with Rodriguez.
The 30-year-old is a native of Sao Paulo and played seven years of his youth with the organization.
Lucas broke through with Sao Paulo to become one of the most in-demand talents around, famously choosing a move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2012 rather joining Manchester United.
Now heading back home, Moura will be looking to make a big impact in the coming months.
Tottenham were right to let Lucas Moura leave
In January 2018, Moura was signed by Tottenham as Mauricio Pochettino sought out additional offensive firepower.
In the Champions League victory over Ajax, Lucas had his big moment, scoring a hat-trick to advance Tottenham to the final versus Liverpool.
The Brazilian made over 200 games for Tottenham, scoring 39 goals, but he was often inconsistent.
Given that Lucas barely had any impact on the team last season, the moment was right for Spurs to move on this summer.
Ange Postecoglou has changed the course of Tottenham, and Manor Solomon has already taken Lucas’ place after being signed on a free transfer.
Spurs just couldn’t carry Lucas anymore and he is probably very happy to be making an emotional return to his former club.
