Declan Rice replacement conditions are ultimately agreed upon by West Ham, but there are two significant issues as the peculiar Denis Zakaria situation is addressed.

The weird Denis Zakaria situation is explained, and West Ham eventually agrees to terms for a Declan Rice replacement. However, there are two major issues.

The long wait may finally be over for West Ham to sign a player – or not.

Fans are sick of reading that West Ham are the only club in the Premier League yet to sign a single player in the summer transfer window.

With such a stark contrast in the profile of player being targeted by David Moyes and Tim Steidten, the Hammers find themselves in the midst of a dangerous transfer stand-off.

One of the Steidten targets long linked with a move to the London Stadium is Juventus and Chelsea flop Denis Zakaria.

West Ham finally agree terms for a Declan Rice replacement but there are two big problems as bizarre Denis Zakaria situation is explained

There has been claim and counter claim ad nauseam about whether Swiss international Zakaria will be joining West Ham.

Steidten knows the player well from his time in Germany where Zakaria starred for Borussia Monchengladbach.

Sources close to the West Ham board have denied the club has any serious interest in a permanent move for the Juve midfielder.

But there has been yet another fresh claim regarding a Hammers’ move for the 26-year-old.

West Ham finally agree terms for a Rice replacement but there are two big problems as the bizarre Zakaria situation is explained.

West Ham have reached an agreement with Juventus for Zakaria according to today’s La Gazetta dello Sport (page 7).

Hammers finally agree a deal for a player only to find out so have two other clubs

But there are two problems – Monaco and RB Leipzig.

Because – the paper claims – the Ligue 1 and German sides have also agreed terms over a deal with Juve for Zakaria.

And now it seems it will be a straight battle between West Ham, Monaco and Leipzig for the midfielder.

West Ham should be able to offer better wages than both those clubs as well as the chance to prove himself in the best league in the world.

A source close to the West Ham board has described the club’s transfer by committee approach as ‘a shambles and complete mess’.

West Ham are fast becoming Rejected FC with every bid made thus far being turned down amid one of the most woeful transfer windows in many years.

So it was exciting to read the Hammers had finally managed to agree terms with a club for a player.

Only to then find out so too have other clubs as the wait for a first window signing goes on.
