‘Alreaady in Contact’: Romano gives insights into possible replacement for Kane, if his deal pulls through this week.
Harry Kane may be sold to assist Tottenham Hotspur raise money to recruit Edmond Tapsoba this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
According to the journalist who has been interacting with GiveMeSport, Spurs are still in touch with Tapsoba’s friends and family.
This summer, Spurs have made plans to sign Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison, and Manor Solomon. However, finding a new center-back has proven to be slightly more challenging.
Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen and Micky van de Ven of Wolfsburg have both been highly linked to Tottenham.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano claimed just yesterday that Spurs are still working on a deal to sign Tapsoba.
But with Bayer Leverkusen standing firm over their valuation of the player, it seems that a possible exit for Harry Kane would help Spurs land Tapsoba.
Kane exit could boost Tottenham’s move for Tapsoba
Romano suggested to GiveMeSport that Tottenham’s pursuit of Tapsoba this summer would benefit from Kane’s sale.
The journalist stated, “Tottenham are still in communication with persons close to the player at Bayer Leverkusen. “Therefore, I believe Harry Kane may also play a role.
Tapsoba might be feasible if Harry Kane leaves and they have a lot of money to invest in the market; else, it might be challenging.
Naturally, Kane’s move to Bayern Munich has been highly rumored this summer. The talisman of Spurs has been named as the Bundesliga champions’ main target, and additional negotiations between the two clubs are scheduled to take place this week.
Kane leaving this summer appears increasingly likely, with a move to Bayern now being his most likely option.
However, Tottenham should be able to dramatically bolster their squad over the next few weeks if Kane does wind up departing.
Tapsoba would be the perfect addition for Spurs, according to Ange Postecoglou, who has already expressed a desire to sign a new center-back.
The 24-year-old, who performed admirably for Leverkusen in Germany, has been hailed as a “exceptional” potential.
Leverkusen reportedly wants at least £45 million to offload the Burkinabe player this summer.
Of course, Tottenham look set to snap up at least one new centre-back regardless of Kane’s future. But if the 29-year-old does head out the door this summer, it may just allow Spurs to bring in Tapsoba and Van de Ven.
